Sports and Remedial Massage

What is sports and remedial massage?

Sports massage is recommended by healthcare professionals and personal trainers as a regular part of a training routine. It is also a vital element in the process of recovering from an injury and optimising the body’s own healing powers.

As a regular addition to a training plan, massage techniques will help restore balance to tired muscles. This allows them to work more efficiently as well as recover more swiftly from training efforts. The techniques will “flush through” your muscles - drawing in the goodness which the body’s own systems supply, and removing the waste deposits that naturally build up as part of a challenging training routine.

If you are recovering from a specific injury, then sports massage is a vital addition to the rehabilitation process helping to optimise the recovery time. Long strokes will help bring nutrients into the damaged area. Later in the recovery process localised deep friction will break down scar tissue whilst mobilisation techniques will help to restore a full range of movement.
